Dr. Kim completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, earning a B.A. in Psychology. He then pursued his medical degree at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, graduating in 1997. His postgraduate training included an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, followed by a Cardiology fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Kim further specialized with an Interventional Cardiology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Kim maintains active certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kim's career is distinguished by a unique blend of military service and civilian medical practice. He served in various capacities in the Army National Guard and U.S. Army, including active duty from 1997 to 2007, and has been recognized for his contributions to the field, receiving Army Achievement honors for his poster presentations at the American College of Physicians - American Society of Internal Medicine conferences.
